I celebrated the life of my cousin Monica’s husband Travis last Saturday and it was as Minnesotan as you can get. He was a police officer in southern Minnesota. The love and sense of community was so strong. Sometimes we just need to see our family. Luckily we haven’t had many losses in our group, but when there is we show up! A lot of hugs, a lot of tears, a lot of laughs and a lot of THAT food. You know what food I’m talking about!
Menu:
Pulled pork, marshmallow “salad”, pretzel dip, bacon beans, chips and EVERY style of dessert bar you can imagine!
This is, hopefully a nice surprise for any MN transplant. I have never been to a funeral, small budget wedding, baby shower or 2 year old’s birthday party that didn’t have this spread.
My sister in law Jan is best known for her MN sushi. Oh, you don’t know what that is!?

I get a lot of guff for being high maintenance. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good charcuterie board! But, if I know that a seven layer bar will be where (clap) I (clap) WILL (clap) BE! Lookout.
What is your favorite Minnesota party food? Pigs in a blanket, cheesy potatoes…
If you were to go to the following states for a visit I’m sure you’d be expected to adapt:
