Hi, I’m Alayna Jaye, and I’m a garage-sale-aholic. I blame my mom for this addiction. As a kid, almost every weekend I would go garage saling with Mama Ang. When I was younger, I wasn’t the biggest fan. Arriving seconds before soccer games were about to start because we HAD to stop at every garage sale on the way, was not fun. Especially when I was told “no, you don’t need that toy.” However, as I got older and started having my own money to spend, I found myself begging my mom to stop at every garage sale.
Last week when I heard about the 100-mile garage sale that’s happening this weekend on the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin, I immediately took Friday off from work and booked hotels.
According to Lake Pepin’s 100 Mile Garage Sale Facebook page, this event has been going on since 1994. “The sale is loosely organized by private individuals who hold sales at their private residences. Individual sale dates and times are determined by the sellers. There is no starting or ending point to the sale.” However, according to their poster, which you can see above, most of the garage sales start Thursday May 6th and go through Sunday May 9th.
The 100 mile garage sale is on Highways 35 and 61 through Minnesota and Wisconsin. There are around 22 towns between Hastings, MN and Fountain City, WI.
Here are the list of the cities:
Minnesota Towns: Hastings, Red Wing, Frontenac, Lake City, Camp Lacupolis, Reads Landing, Wabasha, Kellogg, Minneska, and Winona.
Wisconsin Towns: Prescott, Diamond Bluff, Hager City, Bay City, Maiden Rock, Stockholm, Pepin, Nelson, Alma, Buffalo City, Cochrane, and Fountain City.
